  • Personal Finance

    is a course designed to help students understand the impact of individual choices on occupational goals and future earnings potential. Real world topics covered will include income, money management, spending and credit, as well as saving and investing. Students will design personal and household budgets; simulate use of checking and saving accounts; demonstrate knowledge of finance, debt, and credit management; and evaluate and understand insurance and taxes. This course will provide a foundational understanding for making informed personal financial decisions.
  • This course concentrates on the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) applied to a sole proprietorship. Topics include: analyzing, journalizing and posting transactions, adjusting entries, completion of the work sheet, financial statements, and the closing process for a service business.
  • Students will gain an understanding of the law as it relates to them currently and the implications of the law in their future lives as well as the lives of their family and friends. They will also work to gain an understanding of basic legal vocabulary. The course will include an understanding of the court system at the local, state, and national level. Students will gain an understanding of contract law, their rights and responsibilities as citizens, utilization of financial transactions, employment and agency relationships, and the understanding of the regulations governing different types of business organizations.

    The International Business course is designed to introduce students to basic business operations surrounding global trade. Understanding why nations do business with each other, what cultural features influence business practices, the vital role of communication, and legal considerations prepare the student for more successful business exchanges in the future. Additionally, an overview of marketing, management, and trade documentation is given and the student gains knowledge of the career opportunities existing in our world trade environment.

These include making informed decisions about spending, saving, borrowing, and investing, so that you may start building a solid foundation for your financial security now and in the future.
